Soil Science & Hydrology

Go to content

Current research focuses on measuring and modeling water and solute transport
in unsaturated heterogeneous and layered porous media. Specific topics include:
- Modeling water flow in soils with bimodal pore size distribution;
- Measuring and modeling nitrogen and pesticide leaching in the vadose zone;
- Upscaling of soil hydrological parameterizations;
- Modeling overland flow at basin scale;
- Evaluating effects of marginal water resources on soil hydrological behavior;
- Assessing groundwater vulnerability at basin scale.
- STAR models for soil water status analysis;
- Translating environmental xenobiothics fate models across scales;
- Flow and entrapment of nonaqueous phase liquids in heterogenous porous media;
- Measuring principal controls on free trace metal concentrations in soil solutions;
- Using fractal models for upscaling from the soil core to the field scal
